Patricia Hollis Byrne was born May 31, 1933 in Panama City, Florida. She died peacefully January 25, 2022, at Wesley Village in Wilmore, KY after a long illness. She is survived by her sons and daughters, Debbie (Juan) Bowen, Tim, John (Cheryl), Mary (Dan) Lewis, Patrick (Chardie) and Matt; 16 grandchildren: John (Kirstin), Elizabeth (Brent), Molly (Mahmoud), Tommy III (Melanie) and his mother Phoebe, Mark, (Maureen), Jessica, Luke, John Paul and their mother, Sandy, Rebecca, Abbie, Bonnie and James (Carly) Lewis, Caroline, Cecilia, Henry and Lilly and their mother, Erin; 5 great-grandchildren, Nolan, Rayna, Sophia, Amelia, Gioia, Lance, Garrett, Brooke, Grace, and Claire; her brother, Andy (Judy) Hollis; brother-in-law, Jimmy (Carol) and sister-in-law, Rita, and many nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Bonnie and Louie Hollis, sisters, Lavania and Jerry, son, Thomas C. Jr. and her beloved husband of 64 years, Tom. Pat developed her love of the beach as a child in Panama City and visited yearly until very recently. At an early age her family moved to Enterprise, Alabama and her claim to fame was being the healthiest girl in Coffee County. She was very quick to show any and every doctor the picture of that healthy little girl. One day she saw a very handsome baseball player from Cleveland, Ohio at the local Sweet Shop. They married and moved to Cleveland. Pat later confessed that it was the baseball players (one ball player in particular), not baseball, that she loved. Pat and Tom raised 7 children in Cleveland and in Columbus, Ohio. Pat had many talents and interests, including nursing, real estate, and alcohol/drug counseling. She was an active member of Al-Anon for over 30 years. She loved to learn and took college courses for years as a mother and grandmother. She was very active in the Catholic Church throughout her life. She was an avid antiquer with her friend, Pat Gabriel. She had many close friends and met yearly with 8 other women she had known from first grade who called themselves the “Naughty Nine”. As a mother, grandmother and friend, Pat had an unending capacity to love and care for everyone. She was nonjudgmental and extended a welcoming hand to many who were less fortunate in life. Her family often met Pat’s new friends at Thanksgiving dinner. We will miss her love and wisdom, but we know her light will continue to shine within us. Many thanks to Wesley Village for nearly 8 years of love and care as if she were their own mother.
