Patricia Marie Connell

Patty was born in Columbus, Ohio, on July 6, 1936, to the late John and Irene (Scholl) Griffin. She grew up in Springfield, Ohio, and attended Springfield Catholic High School, where she met the love of her life, Gary Keith Connell. They were members of St. Raphael Parish in Springfield and together raised seven children.

In 1972, Patty and Gary moved their family to Columbus, where they became members of St. Catharine Catholic Church in Bexley. Following Gary's passing in 2008, Patty moved to Pickerington and joined Seton Parish.

Patty was remarkably creative and talented. She used her God-given gifts to bless many by making sleeping bags for those in need, knitting and crocheting blankets, and creating exquisite scrapbooks for her children and grandchildren just to name a few. She was an extraordinary homemaker who devoted her life to caring for others. In addition to raising seven children and encouraging their individuality, she lovingly cared for her parents and sister. Her family was the center of her universe, and she faithfully cared for each of them throughout her life.

After raising her children, Patty worked at So-Fro Fabrics and Johnson's Real Ice Cream in Bexley, where she formed many lasting friendships and even had the joy of working alongside one of her grandsons.

Patty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Gary Keith Connell; sons, Gary Patrick Connell and Bobby Connell; sister, Roberta Griffin; and brother, Jack Griffin and his wife, Alice.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted children, Cindy Beck, Theresa (Butch) Carper, Kevin (Christopher Stokes Moseley) Connell, Maria (Rich) Schroeter, and Shawna (A.J.) Varda; grandchildren, Shawn (Nicole), Alan, Sam (Elise), Katie, Shari, Laura (Cole), Michael, Dani, Bobby (Dana), Emily (Hunter), Tiante', Tony (Kate), and Nic (Chloe); 29 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43232, where a brief service of remembrance will begin at 3:30 p.m. You may view the service live using the link below.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Seton Parish, 600 Hill Road North, Pickerington, Ohio 43147.

Patty will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield, Ohio.
