Patricia A. (Hiatt) Glass

Patricia A. (Hiatt) Glass of Columbus passed away on May 3, 2023 at the age of 95. She was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on July 29, 1927 to Elmer and Mary Helen (Swisher) Hiatt. She was an active Girl Scout , and graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1945. She attended Business School, where she met her husband, Arthur K. Glass. They married on October 22 1949, and were married for 49 years. A lover of nature, she shared that love with her children and grandchildren, and loved to camp and hike. She taught them to love and identify birds, insects, trees, flowers, fossils. She was a skilled artist, and displayed (and sold) her work at a gallery inside the Atlas building. She loved playing the dulcimer, and performed with the group “The Electric Grandmothers”.

She is survived by daughters, Karen (James) Baughman and Kimberly (David Kussman) Burnett; daughter-in-law, Melanie Glass; grandchildren, Matthew (Stephanie) Glass, Ashley (Ricki Ayers) Buzuleciu, Thomas (Corrina) Burnett, James Baughman, and Andrew (Carmen) Glass; nine great grandchildren, with one on the way; sister in law, Monna Stephens; many nieces and nephews.

She worked as a secretary at Buckeye Steel, Buckeye International, Worthington Industries, and retired from the Ohio Ethics Commission.

Pat was involved in her children’s activities, especially with Jobs Daughters, Order of DeMolay and Order of Rainbow for Girls, serving as Mother Advisor and Deputy for Districts 6 and 6A. She belonged to the Social Order of the Beauceant Columbus Assembly #79 (36 year member) and the Order of Eastern Star, Caroline Chapter #39 (a 49year member)

She enjoyed visiting churches of multiple denominations with family members until her health declined.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Arthur, an infant son, and son Kevin, brothers and sisters in laws Richard and Elizabeth Hiatt, Gene and Creta Hiatt, George and Mary Glass, Keith Glass and Ralph Stephens.

Visiting hours will be held at the Advantage Funeral Service by Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 4-7pm, with service to follow at 7:00 pm. Interment will be Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Scioto Burial Gardens in McDermott, Ohio at 11:00 am.
