Patricia J. Halley, age 82, of Columbus passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024. She was born in Henderson, WV on April 7, 1942, to the late Julia (Mathews) and Lawrence E. Kelly. Pat was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School in West Virginia and The Ohio State University in Columbus.
She and her husband Jim worked overseas for 20 years in Nigeria, Kuwait, Turkey, Indonesia, and the Philippines. While Jim worked as an engineering consultant, Pat loved to entertain and socialize. They enjoyed traveling the world and living life as partners and soulmates.
Hard working; Pat’s professional life included the West Virginia Department of Highways, jobs in the Middle East, and upon returning to the U.S., she worked for Karlsberger, an architectural firm, and retired from Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Pat always had a way of making good memories and friends on every path and was blessed to have made life-long friends, especially those from her school days in Point Pleasant. Her motto was "be kind and forgive."
Family and friends have shared many descriptions and memories including elegant, smart, sweet, caring, devoted, loyal, a survivor, strong, a wonderful cook, gracious hostess, first on the dance floor and last one off, ready for the party or center stage, quick-witted, loved to laugh, ornery, a "spark plug," great storyteller, an avid reader and gardener, and loved by many.
May these thoughts bring a smile as we each remember Pat.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Emery James (Jim) Halley, Jr., sister, Maggie J. Bartolomucci, brother, Lawrence W. Kelly, and far too many family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Carla J. Peery (Chris); children, Jeffrey W. Halley (Mary); Pamela K. Facemyer (Donald), and Sharon L. Whaples (Ronnie-deceased); grandchildren, Morgan Gaten Peery, Wyatt Peery, Joseph Halley (Micailyn), Jessica Halley (Mercedes), Donald W. Facemyer, Jr. (Tabitha), Gregory S. Facemyer (Hope), Rhonda Whaples, Ashley Whaples; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nephews, Tommie Bartolomucci (Jen) and Jeff Bartolomucci (Chris), her cousin Phil Wolfe (Tracy), dear family and friends.
A joint service for Pat and loving husband, Jim, is scheduled for Friday, May 16, 2:45 p.m. with arrival at 2:30 p.m. at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at Galaxy Inn & Banquet Center in Wadsworth. Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger East.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local library, Hospice, animal welfare group or Veteran’s charity of your choice.
