My Uncle Paul was like a father to me as I was growing up.  I will always remember the many times at Indian Lake, where we would fish and boat and make the trip up there in the Pinto or Green Station Wagon.

He taught me how to fish and was there to help me when I caught the biggest fish in my life at Indian Lake.  I will always remember those times.

I remember tangling allot of his reels on all of those fishing polls when we would fish.  He would sometimes make that face as if he were frustrated a little, but would kindly untangle my lines over and over and send me off with a smile.

As I grew older and became a realtor and started doing remodeling, I can remember asking him for advise on things or how to do something in particular.  I remember that he would always take the time to talk to me about it and explain how I should do it.
He really enjoyed teaching others what he knew.

I remember that he always liked his food and enjoyed cooking out....things were always "very tasty and delicious as he would put it.

Unfortunately with time comes additional commitments, which don’t allow us to visit with family and friends as much as we would like.  That has been true for myself and my family as we would usually see Paul a couple of times a year at family gatherings.  Paul and I would always make time to talk to each other and enjoy some conversation.

His time and devotion and love for his children and grandchildren were always very relevant and you could tell that they always put a smile on his face when he spoke of them or when they came in the room.  He was very proud of all of them.

One of the last times I saw Paul, he congratulated me on my second soon to be child and shook my hand while his face beamed with happiness.  He said its a great feeling to have kids and that it means allot to raise a child.  He seemed very happy for me.  Before I left, I said we would have to get together at his apartment and have a beer and talk sometime soon.  That day never came for him or I.

I will never forget Paul, as he was always caring of others and giving of himself.

I'm pretty sure that we've all needed someone to untangle our reels at times, as Paul did for me.  I'm thankful that he was there for me.

We will miss you dearly Paul.

Those of us who were fortunate to know Paul as a young man, whether at Watterson High School or at Immaculate Conception (if my memory is correct) in grade school, will remember him not only as an active participant--often a leader--in groups, but also a pensive observer with quiet self-confidence and a clear sense of fairness.  He was a wonderful person and a wonderful friend.
