Paul was born in Columbus, Ohio on December 22, 1925 to the late Paul M. and Goldie (Miller) Norris Sr.
Paul grew up in Columbus and entered into the United States Navy on December 20, 1943. He proudly served his country during WWII on the USS Beale In the Pacific Theater. Shortly after returning to Columbus he told Miss Norma Cutler that he wanted her to be a part of his life, and on October 31, 1951 she became Mrs. Paul M. Norris Jr. They celebrated over 56 years together before her passing in 2007. Paul and Norma enjoyed square dancing, clogging, and camping. Paul retired from General Motors as a Press operator after 30 years of dedicated service. Paul was a member at West Park United Methodist Church and at the Burgess Ave. United Methodist Church, where he and his wife both taught Sunday school. They both attended many of the Billy Graham Crusades at the old Jets stadium and sang in the choir during the services.
Paul was a devout Christian and touched many lives as Veteran, GM Employee, Sunday school teacher, and as an outreach Minister to the Ohio State Penitentiary, but his biggest fulfillment was watching his children grow up and becoming wonder caring people. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Paul’s survivors include his children, Janice “Jamie” (Michael) Fagan of Marysville, Craig (Chris) Norris of Columbus; grandchildren, Heather (Todd) Van Dyne of Delaware, Eric (Rebecca) Fagan of Columbus; great grandson, Hayden Van Dyne of Delaware; sisters, Marvine (Don) Ringhiser and Nellie (Richard) Stanley.
The family will be receiving friends at the Schoedinger Norris Funeral Home, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, OH on Friday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. Services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 10:00am at the funeral home, with committal services following at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Hilliard.
