

Dr. Paul Copeland Perkins, 57, of Stoutsville, OH. Born March 27, 1952, Dayton, OH
Died January 10, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Paul received a B.S. from The University of Colorado, Boulder and an M.D. from Wright State University, Dayton, OH, first medical school graduating class, 1980.
Paul Perkins made his last landing on the 10th of January 2010. Paul was a physician who cared for his patients and saw them not as customers but as human beings who deserved quality and compassionate care. Dr. Perkins served as an emergency room physician for several Locum Tenens groups, meaning he went to care for patients where he was needed the most. His most rewarding work was the time spent providing medical care for Native Americans on Reservations in the western U.S.A.
Paul was also passionate in his beliefs and opinions . . . just ask anyone who knew him.
Paul was a published author having written four books about the rich history of aviation with his lifelong friend Dan Patterson. Paul was a gifted and talented photographer who inherited the passion for image making from his father, Dr. Neal Perkins. His love of the English language provided Paul with a sharp wit and the ability to use it. He loved airplanes, fast English automobiles, very good Scotch and a good hearty laugh. Paul also was a member of the RoundTown Players in Circleville, OH. his most memorable part being Shylock in Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents: Dr. Neal C. and Janet G. Perkins. He is survived by his children: Maricela F. Lepe-Perkins (Andrew) Nickell of Centerville, OH daughter of Denise Lepe-Perkins, Jacob N. Perkins of Rio Rancho, NM, son of Jeanette Dolinar-Perkins; brother, Chaplain Robert N. (Susan) Perkins of Stoutsville, Ohio; sister, Mary P. (Paul) Hyslop of Fort Fairfield, Maine and Carolyn J. Perkins of Louisville, KY.; nieces, Jennifer Perkins and Janet (Phil) Turner and nephews, Aaron Perkins and Ian Hyslop. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial gifts to the Pickering House/Fairhope Hospice in Lancaster OH or the American Cancer Society.
Memorial service will be held 11:00AM Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the St. John Church, 11450 Brown St., Stoutsville, OH. Visitation with family and friends at 10:00 AM Thursday until time of service. Lunch immediately following the service. Rev. Ted Davis and Rev. Susan Perkins officiating.
