Born on March 22, 1938, Peggy lived a life filled with passion, purpose, and love. A proud educator, she spent her career shaping young minds as a middle school English teacher in the Groveport Madison School District. Her love of literature extended far beyond the classroom, reading nearly a book a day, she believed in the power of words to inform, inspire, and connect. She graduated from Clay high school in 1956 and was an active member of the alumni association until her death. She pursued her Bachelor of Education degree at Ohio University and her Masters Degree at Mount St. Joseph University. Her mind was razor sharp until the moment she left this earth to be with her heavenly father.
Peggy found joy in the simple beauty of the beach and was deeply engaged in women’s rights and civic life – never shying away from an energized debate. She believed in justice, stood firm in her convictions, and never missed a chance to encourage others to speak up and stand tall.
She is survived by her loving children: Angela Hinerman (Brad), Ronald Schuyler (Amity), and Nicholas Schuyler (Nimfa). Peggy was a devoted grandmother to Jacob Perkins(Kasey), Chelsea Cahill (Matt), and great-grandmother to Bryce, Brady, and Braxton Cahill, Cooper Rathburn and Jayden Padilla.
Her family was her heart, and her values live on in the generations who follow her. She is preceded in death by her parents Claude and Anna Doty, sister Joyce Irwin, brothers Carl and Paul Doty and beloved cousins too numerous to list.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, June 25th. Visitation 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. with service to follow.
