

Peggy J. (Deskins) Van Arsdale, a long-time resident of the Columbus area, died Sunday the 6th of June at St. Ann's Hospital, SIMCU Unit, Westerville, Ohio from respiratory complications. Born September 12, 1925 in Williamson, West, VA, pre-deceased by parents: James B. Deskins and Lucille Vaughan Deskins, and siblings Mary Lou Maidel of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Charles Deskins of Marion, Ohio. Peggy is survived by a sister, Patricia Tinsky (Mrs. William) of Columbus. Peggy moved to Columbus as a young girl and graduated North High School in 1943. There, she met and married Gerald "Van" Van Arsdale and they have three children. Peggy enjoyed a career as a homemaker and after her husband retired from Prudential Insurance in 1981, enjoyed traveling our great nation in her Airstream Motor home. Peggy also enjoyed going to movies and dinners out and loved boating in Florida. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. She is survived by her husband, "Van" Van Arsdale to whom she was married for 64 fantastic years, three children: James Van Arsdale of N. Ft Myers, FL, Susan Van Arsdale Woodbury (Mrs. Troy) of Atlanta, GA, and Kathleen Van Arsdale May (Mrs. Jeffrey) of Worthington, OH, and four grandchildren: Trevor and Amy Woodbury, Atlanta, GA and Joshua and Justin May, Worthington, OH all of whom brought great joy to her. Peggy is also survived by many other nieces and nephews. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Lung Association of Ohio, 1950 Arlingate Lane, Columbus, OH 43228. Visitation is at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, on Tuesday, June 8 from 7-9 pm and Wednesday, June 9, from 2-5 and 7-8 pm, followed by a time of personal reflection and prayer service. Graveside services will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 North High Street, (Route 23) North, Lewis Center, OH, 43035 614-888-1805, on Thursday, June 10th. 10AM Mass in Chapel by Rev. Paul A. Noble. Friends and Family will meet at the Chapel.
