

Philip R. Enoch, 82, of Circleville, OH, formerly of St. Louis, MO, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 in Columbus, OH. He was the son of Ernest and Nancy (Harral) Enoch who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Ernest E. Enoch; sister-in-law, Margret (Huffer) Enoch; and a sister, Janet Adkins. He is survived by a sister, N. Joan Enoch of Norwalk, CT; a nephew, Ernest R. Enoch of Circleville; nieces, Kim (Michael) Morton of Acworth, GA, Cathy (Dan) Klingerman of Pataskala, OH and Krista (Bob) Wile of Hilliard, OH; and brother-in-law, Phillip Adkins of Circleville. Philip was born in Pickaway County, OH on October 24, 1932 and attended Saltcreek Rural High School.
He graduated from Ohio University in 1954 where he studied English and Dramatic Art. He later attended The Ohio State University for three years majoring in Television and Film. He began his career at WBNS-TV in Columbus, where he produced The Flippo Show, along with news and public affairs programming.
Philip served his country for four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and attained the rank of Captain. He received an honorable discharge after serving as a reserve officer until 1980.
Philip lived in St. Louis for 32 years of his life. There he produced and directed film documentaries and was the recipient of three national Emmy Awards. While in St. Louis he was instrumental in founding The Gateway Theater, a professional repertory organization, and directed many of the plays there.
Philip retired in 1999 and returned to Pickaway County, where he became a substitute teacher in the county and Circleville city schools. He was a member of Whistler and Circleville Presbyterian Church, AMVETS Post 2256 and the Elks. He was also a member of the Director’s Guild of America.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 31, 2014, at Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery with Pastor Troy Braswell officiating. Military services will be provided by AMVETS Post 2256 Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to The Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 147, Circleville, OH 43113. Arrangements were made with Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, Circleville, Ohio.
