Phyllis Elaine (Dempsey) Morlan, age 48, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at her home. Phyllis was a loving wife and mother. Phyllis was born in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from Gahanna Lincoln in 1985. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1992. She struggled with this disease for 23 years. She was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in June 2015. Phyllis was a wonderfully selfless, strong lady who was loved by everyone who came in contact with her. Although she had dealt with multiple sclerosis for much of her adult life, it never affected her positive nature and her ability to be a great daughter, wife and mother to her two boys. Despite her dealing with cancer which took her life much too early, she maintained her amazing sense of humor because, as she would say, she needed it "to be able to be married to Dave for over 26 years". Phyllis is preceded in death by her father-in-law, Joe Morlan. She is survived by her loving husband, Dave; sons, Joseph and Austin; parents, Lawrence and Shirley Dempsey; mother-in-law, Kay Morlan; siblings Lawrence (Ellen) Dempsey, Barb (Mark) Callihan, John (Karen) Dempsey, and Janet Matney; brothers-in-law, Mike (Regina) and Brian (Karen) Morlan; and 21 wonderful nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 3-7 p.m. Thursday, October 8 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL 1051 E. Johnstown Rd, Gahanna where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday. Pastor Warren Hilderbrand officiating. Interment Maplewood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Handshake Foundation at 5058 Gredle Drive, Hilliard, Ohio 43026.
