Phyllis Jean Nester

Phyllis was born on February 2, 1946 in Williamson, West Virginia to the late Henry and Margaret Atwell. She passed away on February 28, 2023 at Ohio State Hospital East, with those who loved her most by her side.

She attended Central High School and then went on to graduate from The Ohio State University with a degree in education. Phyllis taught elementary school for many years as she has loved kids her entire life. She left teaching to raise her 2 children before returning to work. She was an accounting technician at DFAS Columbus until she retired in 2008. She spent her retirement years caring for her grandchildren, great nieces and nephews and everyone she loved, until she suffered from a stroke in 2019. She was called Aunt Tilly by all of her great nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her sister Sue Slagle, her niece Gail Hamaker and nephew Michael Erdy. She is survived by her loving husband of over 50 years Robert Allen. Her children Kimberly Nester and Ron (Angie) Nester. Her sisters Patti Degler, Debi Marshall, Peggy (Don) Potter and Mari (Dennis) Lyons. Her grandchildren Christopher (Michayla) Nester, Morgen and Logan Guthrie, Robert and Kelsey Nester, Marrisa Ross, and Timothy Ellis. Her nephews Brian, Christopher (Vanessa) Potter, Jim (Megan), Dan (Ashley), Kyle Lyons and Carl (Katie) Slagle. Nieces Stephanie (Andy) Pheasant and Marsha (Anthony) Sheppard. Numerous great nieces and nephews and loving cousins.

Family will receive friends 4-7 pm Friday, March 10, 2023 at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where the funeral service will be held 10 am Saturday, March 11, 2023. Interment to follow at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens.
