

Pauline “Polly” Anna Thompson, age 88, passed away May 22, 2010. She was born December 16, 1921 in Columbus, Ohio to Roscoe and Emma (Wilkie) DeHays. Polly graduated from Columbus East High School and was employed by Nationwide Life Insurance Company as a Senior Health Analyst & Supervisor from 1954 until she retired on September 1, 1983. She is a member of the First English Lutheran Church and was a resident of the Westminster Thurber Community since 1978. Polly was an active member of the International Toastmistress Council’s Franklin Club, serving in a number of Officer positions, including President. She volunteered her time over many years as a member of the Nationwide Insurance Company Clown Unit. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Katherine DeHays, Charles DeHays, and Joseph DeHays. Polly is survived by two brothers, Roscoe (Betty) DeHays of Columbus, Ohio and Leo (Charlotte) DeHays of Hemet, California; her children, Susan Haag and Gloria (Orv) Lyons; grandchildren, Robert (Jennifer) Cox, Lori-Ane (Steve Slaggy) Haag, Wendy (Andrew) Swary, and Amy Frazer; great-grandchildren, Cameron Cox, Taylor Frazer, Aiden Frazer, Sebastian Swary and Vivian Swary. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the Medical, Palliative Care and Hospice Staff at Mt. Carmel West for their outstanding care of Polly in her final days. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 pm, Monday June 14, 2010 at Westminster Thurber Community Chapel, 717 Neil Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
