Priscilla A “Penny” Varga passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Born in Columbus, Ohio on July 9, 1945 to the late Paul A. and Hilda D. Varga. She is survived by her sister Bonnie Bing; nieces Priscilla (Thomas) Shea and Molly (Kevin) McLaren; great-nephew and great-nieces Andrew, Leah, Amelia and Mathilda; special friends and caregivers Sally Odell, Joel Ahlbrandt, Dawn McMillan, Amber McMillan and Russell McMillan.
Penny graduated from Upper Arlington High School, Class of 1963, and went on to graduate, in 1968, from Parsons College, with a degree in Elementary Education. She went on to teach at Frey Avenue Elementary School in West Jefferson for 28 years. During those years, Penny was greatly loved by her students, parents and staff. She loved to travel, and had the privilege of visiting three continents. She enjoyed listening to music, art, animals and a really good laugh. You would always find Penny with a smile on her face. She had the ability to see the good in everyone, and in every situation. Towards the end, she spent many happy hours in the comfort of her special bedroom, surrounded by the people, animals, and the things, that Penny loved.
