

Jean Blackburn, age 92, a longtime resident of Gahanna, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. She grew up in German Village and graduated from Central High School. While raising her family, Jean was a secretary at Highlights for Children, and then in 1970 she became secretary to Gahanna Mayor Charles Leavitt and Mayor Brehm. She also served as Gahanna's Clerk of Courts in the 70s/80s. Jean enjoyed being a member of Oakhaven Garden Club, Dozen Duffers Golf League, and was a previous President of Peace Lutheran PLCW where she and husband, Bill, were members. Following retirement in 1984, she joined the Red Hats and a Senior Citizen dance group. She loved gardening and spending quality time with her family. She is preceded in death by parents, Roy and Leona Sells; husband, William E. Blackburn; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Dusty Fox; sisters and their husbands, Bette (Armand) Asmo; Norma (Bob) Painter; Rita (Carlo) Fala. Surviving family includes daughter, Sharon (Steve) Cremean; son, William Blackburn II; daughter-in-law, Jody Blackburn, Grandchildren, Julie (Patrick) Russell; Amy (Arnek) Erath; Timothy (Kate) Cremean; Dana (Mark) Toprani; Matthew (Noelle) Fox; Ryan (Allison) Blackburn; Jason (Brianna) Blackburn; Katie Blackburn. Great-grandchildren, Luke Morlan; Lauren & Josh Toprani; David & Emily Cremean; Ben, Madeline & Noah Fox; Colin, Erica & Mindy Blackburn and Parker Blackburn, several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 2-4p.m. and 6-8p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, Ohio 43230, where a service will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Kai Nilsen officiating. A dual interment with honor guard will follow at Mifflin Cemetery, 218 Agler Rd., Gahanna, Ohio 43230. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, Alzheimer’s Assoc. or Multiple Myeloma Assoc.
