

Ralph "Bill" W. Eisnaugle, age 81, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016. Bill was born on February 25, 1935 Jackson, Ohio to the late Ralph and Wilma Chapman. Bill graduated from Jackson (Ohio) High School in 1953, where he was a class officer and multi-sport athlete. He graduated with a BA degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1957, studied at Western Reserve University School of Law, graduating in 1960 with a JD degree. Bill was a gifted athlete. As a high school football player he was selected by Kiwanis International as a member of the SE Ohio Athletic League in 1951, won the first annual "personal sportsmanship" award given by the SEOL Boosters and Coaches, and was selected to play in the 1953 Ohio High School All-Star game in Canton, Ohio. He was the star pitcher on the semi-pro fast pitch league while still in high school, continuing through college. At Ohio Wesleyan University Bill joined Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and majored in History and English. That is where he met Nancy and fell in love. Their marriage was blessed with nearly 59 years of happy, loving companionship. His legal career began with the Treasury Department in the Detroit office of the Chief Counsel's Office where he was Special Trial Counsel to the Internal Revenue Service. He was appointed to the new "Organized Crime Drive Unit" created jointly by the Departments of Treasury and Justice to provide legal and tax guidance for pending investigations. After 5 years he joined the Taft, Stettinius and Hollister law firm in Cincinnati, Ohio where he specialized in Federal tax cases. He opened his own firm in Columbus, Ohio in 1970, and practiced until his retirement in 2010. Bill received the highest peer rating awarded for his profession, was a member of the Federal, Ohio, Detroit, Cincinnati, and Columbus Bar Associations. He was admitted and qualified as an Attorney and Counsellor at Law of the Supreme Court of the United States in 1973. In his leisure time, Bill was an excellent golfer, holding membership in Brookside Golf and Country Club for 35 years. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter, which led Bill and Nancy to the design and self-construction of a log cabin in southern Ohio with the help of our friends. He loved his Airedale Terriers named Rusty I, II, and III. He was an avid lifetime Ohio State football fan. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Nancy (Quinn) Eisnaugle; his daughter, Wendy (Jeffrey) Warmolts; son, Jeffry Chapman (Jennifer) Eisnaugle and grandchildren, Michelle Quinn and Kevin William Warmolts. Family will receive friends 4-6 PM on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Boulevard, Columbus, Ohio 43212.
