

Ralph Wesley Hughes, age 87, of Springfield, OH, formerly of Columbus, died March 28, 2016. Ralph was born in Columbus, OH on June 11, 1928 the son of Helen (Babbert) and Ross A. Hughes. He retired from Country Mark as Vice President of the Crop Division and was one of the original founders of Donatos Pizza. He graduated from South High School and Otterbein University. Ralph was a member of New England Lodge #4 F. & A. M., Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, and Aladdin Temple Shrine where he was Past-Circus Director. He was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. Ralph proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War as the company clerk of a MASH unit. Along with his parents, Ralph is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Betty Lou Hughes. He is survived by
sons Allen (Laurie) Hughes of Westerville and Robert (Kathy) Hughes of Springville, CA; grandchildren Leslie McCann, Nicole Hughes, Coriell Hughes, Ross Hughes, Ashley Shellhause, Ryan Hughes, Christopher Hughes and Sarah Hughes; great grandchildren Rayne McCann, Jayden Brooks and Noah Rutherford-McCann; and step-brothers Alva Port and Darwin Port. Friends may call 4-6pm Monday, April 4, 2016 at the Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, 229 E. State St., Columbus; where a memorial service will begin at 6:00pm. A private family graveside will be held at Green Lawn Cemetery. The family suggests that contributions be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229.
