Ramona Emily Fisher, born in Hanover, New Hampshire on May 22, 1941, went home to her Lord on January 24, 2018, due to ongoing health issues. Mona, as she preferred to be called, was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Dennis Fisher; her parents, Sylvia Mae Southerland and Harley Raymond Nelson; her grandson, Adam Lee Evans; her son-in-law, David Eric Allinson; sisters Charlotte Roystan and Shirley Paquette; and sister-in-law Gail Nelson. Mona left behind several family members: Bobbi Elaine Evans (daughter), Kenneth Douglas Evans (son-in-law, Bobbi), James Aaron Evans (grandson, Bobbi), Megan Ashley Evans (granddaughter, Bobbi), Connor Lee (great-grandson, Ashley), Noah Bliss (great-grandson, Ashley), Michael Arien Emrys (son), Suzie Emrys (daughter-in-law, Michael), Melander Emrys (grandson, Michael), Ray Charles Schmidt (son), Mellisa Dennise Allinson (daughter), Bronwyn Elizabeth Fisher (granddaughter, Mellisa), Hunter Vaughan Ganderton (grandson, Mellisa), Patience Renee Ganderton (granddaughter, Mellisa), Danielle Sylvia Fisher (daughter), Zakkery Melvin Wilson (grandson, Danielle), Nicholas Rae Sexton (grandson, Danielle), Lance Adam Herndon (son), Anne Marie Herndon (daughter-in-law, Lance), Demetrius Jerome Benjamin Perkins (grandson, Lance), Peyton Marie Herndon (granddaughter, Lance), Parker Madison Herndon (granddaughter, Lance), siblings Ruth Blake, Judy Paye and Harley Nelson, plus numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
After the death of her husband, Mona raised her six children single-handedly, often relocating on a whim because of what she called her "gypsy blood". Her travels took her from coast to coast, eventually landing in Columbus, Ohio, where she would live with her daughter, Bobbi, for the last years of her life. An avid bowler, Mona loved reading, spending time with friends and family, soaking up the sun, music, drawing and spontaneous trips to wherever the mood took her. Born with a green thumb, Mona enjoyed tending to her many plants and flowers.
Her children wish to express their heartfelt thanks to the amazing people who took care of our mother in her last moments, and the friends and family who have reached out during this difficult time. It means so much to us to know how many lives she touched. A memorial service will be held at 7PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST, 1051 East Johnstown Rd., Gahanna on Monday, January 29, 2018. Friends and family are welcome to arrive between 5 and 7 PM to visit. For further details.
