

Raymond A. Depiro Sr., age 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Saturday October 19th at his home in Grove City. He was born November 22, 1942 in Newark, NJ. Preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Inez DePiro. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Carlene DePiro, his 3 sons, Tony, Joe, and Raymond Jr. DePiro, and his daughter, Teresa (DePiro) Gauthier and her husband Robert Gauthier. He is also survived by his 2 sisters Bernice DePiro, and Pamela (DePiro) Shatynski and her husband William Shatynski. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Jonathan DePiro, Dante DePiro, Ashlie, Maximus, Madison and Mason Gauthier, James and Taylor Conner and 1 great grandchild Adysen Conner, nieces and nephews, Gregory, Christine, and Lisa Shatynski. Ray was a graduate of Eastside H.S. in Newark, NJ. He earned his Associates Degree in Business from the Altoona School of Commerce. Ray retired from the Insurance business after 43 years of service. He worked for Met Life and Monumental Insurance. During his time in the insurance industry Ray received many awards and had many accomplishments. His success took him and his family from the East Coast to the West Coast and some places in between. He even spent 6 years in Canada with Met Life. Ray was an avid sports fan. He liked football and boxing, but he loved baseball. Ray himself was a very accomplished pitcher in baseball and at one time played for a farm team in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. Ray didn't have a lot of hobbies, but the one thing that really brought him joy was going to watch his grandchildren play in the sports they were involved in. Ray did a lot of traveling but his 2 most memorable trips were to Hawaii with his wife Carlene and Disney World with his family and grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday October 21, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8pm with a prayer service at 3:30pm at the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL 3920 Broadway Grove City. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday October 22, 2013 at 11am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 3730 Broadway Grove City with Father Dan Millisor Celebrant. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday October 23, 2013 at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Mt. Washington, KY at 11 am. In lieu of flowers Ray would be pleased with donations to his favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
