Raymond "Ray" D. Waples

Raymond “Ray” D. Waples, age 87, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010. He was born in Madison County, Ohio on May 15, 1923 to the late Raymond D. and Mable (Evans) Waples. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard serving in WWII. Ray worked for 28 years at Westinghouse and retired from Union Fork and Hoe Company. In his free time Ray enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Edna Waples and wife of 8 years, Audrey Waples; grandchildren, Jennifer and Joshua Waples; and sisters, Janet Smith and JoAnn Straley. Survivors include his sons, Dale (Kathy) Waples, and Gary (Maureen) Waples; grandchildren, Justin (Stephanie) Waples, and Jennifer Clossman; and many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Friends may call Friday, August 13, 2010 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at the SCHOEDINGER-NORRIS CHAPEL 3920 Broadway Grove City where the funeral service will be held Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 10:00AM with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Somerford Township Cemetery, London, Ohio. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Madison County Hospice, 212 N.
