

Rexford G. Moon, III, age 64, passed away peacefully with his children by his side on Saturday, October 22, 2011. Rex was born on July 30, 1947 in Schenectady, NY; he was the son to Margaret Moon and the late Rexford G. Moon Jr. Rex was a graduate of New England College where he earned his B.A. in Marketing. He is survived by his children, Kristin Beck and Rexford G. Moon, IV (RJ). Kristin lives in Atlanta, GA with husband Jeffrey and son Jason. RJ lives in Charlottesville, VA with girlfriend Susie Sanderspree. Rex is also survived by his mother, Margaret Moon, and his ex-wife, Joanne Moon; and brothers Wayne, Tim, and Peter Moon and their families. At the time of his death, Rex was living happily in Columbus, OH with girlfriend Victoria Bellows and worked as Director of Sales for UFC, Inc. Rex spent his life mastering skills, teaching and serving others. He was a certified New York State Safe Motorcycle instructor, PSIA Ski Instructor, Dive Master, pilot, and US Sailing certified instructor. He was devoted to volunteering his time with the Y-Knot Sailing program for people with disabilities and the Double H Ranch Adaptive ski program. He had a strong passion for spending his time in the outdoors as well as supporting and encouraging youth activity outside. He was loved and will be missed by many. A service will be held Saturday November 5th at 1pm at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 220 Lake Avenue, Lake Luzerne, NY, 12846. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Rex Moon Memorial Fund at Y-Knot. This Fund will be used to help build the northeast’s most prominent wheelchair accessible dock on Lake George, an initiative Rex helped to start and fund several years ago, and will allow everyone with disabilities to know the freedom and passion of sailing.
