

Richard Leland Everhart, MD, 93, went home to be with the Lord on October 30, 2009. He graduated from Ada High School as valedictorian, from Ohio Northern University with a BA degree with honors and from OSU College of Medicine. He placed 2nd on the National Medical Boards that year. He interned at Springfield City Hospital (Ohio) before joining the US Navy (20 months in the South Pacific) from 1942-1946. At the time of his honorable discharge he was a Lieutenant Commander. He completed his training with a year of internal medicine at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, followed by a year at OSU. He opened his practice of 55 yrs in 1948. He had medical staff membership with White Cross Hospital and later Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was recognized for his service of teaching by the Dept. of Family Medicine at OSU and the Family Practice Center at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Beth (Cade) Everhart and his daughters, Dr. MaryAnn Everhart-McDonald (Garald McDonald), Ms. Linda Pomante, Mrs. Nancy Grigiss (Peter Grigiss) and his grandchildren, Rich Pomante (Lindsay), Nikki Forte (Paul), Bo Pomante (Kelly), Lexi Pomante, Andrew and Gena Grigiss, Tim McDonald (Molly), Heather McDonald and 6 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Janis Johnson (Harold), his many nephews and nieces, including Dr. Larry Everhart (Lori), Dr. James Everhart (Jodi), and Sandy (Dave) Cuccia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Estella Everhart; his brothers, Dr. Robert Everhart, Attorney Eugene Everhart and his sister, Doris Loop. A Celebration of his Life’s Journey will begin at 11:30am Friday, November 6, 2009 at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St. (Just south of I-270) Worthington, OH.
