

Richard Lee “Dick” Humphrey, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. He was born in Columbus on March 27, 1932, to the late John and Florence Humphrey and was a graduate of Central High School. Dick served our country during the Korean Conflict as a combat engineer in the US Army. He retired from Haire Sign Corporation and Ohio Dominican University, and he was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7005. He was an avid Euchre player, and he traveled to various clubs around the city to play. He was also a lifetime golfer and fisherman, and he played softball for many years. Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Ann Humphrey; siblings, John, George, Bob, Gene, Bill, Margaret, Florence, and Lois; and granddaughter, Andrea Spears. He is survived by his children, Laurie (Shane) Stockton, Becky (Larry) Spears, Mike (Janet) Humphrey, and Daniel Humphrey; grandchildren, Nick Spears, Megan (Ben) Griffith, Chris Humphrey, Matt Humphrey, Kaitlyn Stockton, and Cody Humphrey; great grandchildren, Aidan and Annelyse Griffith; good friends, Debbie Craft and favorite handyman, Dick Johnston; and a host of nieces, nephews, and card-playing buddies. Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at the SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home where family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Sunset Cemetery at a later date.
