Richard P. "Dick" McCann

Richard P. "Dick" McCann, age 89 of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013. He was born August 15, 1924 to the late Arthur and Kathryn (Beck) McCann. Richard graduated from Holy Rosary High School, Class of 1942 and served in the US Army as Sgt during WWII. He loved history, music, and sports and was a huge Buckeye fan. Richard was also Co-Founder and Past President of Recreation Unlimited. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Rita (Herderick) McCann. Richard is survived by his children, Brian McCann (Catherine), Terrence (Nancy) McCann, Kathryn (James) Tuthill, Richard P. (Christy) McCann, Jr., Colleen (Stephen) Buzza, and Leo (Crystal) McCann; grandchildren, Noah McCann, Leah McCann, Bethany (Jeffrey) Hoover, Patrick McCann (Melissa), Richard Paul McCann III, Allison McCann, Andrew McCann, Erin Buzza, and Elise Buzza; and great-grandchildren, Mason Hoover and Samson McCann. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. His family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd (at Beecher Rd.) Gahanna. Father Jerome P. Rodenfels, Celebrant.
