Richard J. “Dick” Parks, age 86, of Columbus, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Villa Angela Care Center. He was born August 21, 1923 in Canton, Ohio, son of the late Larry A. and Edna (Weimer) Parks. He was the owner of Intrastate Adjustment Services for over 35 years. Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Yolanda “Lonnie” Parks in 2007. A devoted husband, father and “Papa”, he especially loved spending time with his family and friends. Survived by his daughter, Pamela (Gary) Addison; son, Richard “Rick” (Denise) Parks, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Tanya (David) Marquez, Tony Addison, Richie Parks and Greg Parks; great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Isaiah Marquez; cousins, Judy Hamill and Dick Weimer; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Veteran World War II serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Franklin University. Dick was a longtime active member of St. James Episcopal Church, where he was an usher and past Senior Warden. Along with his wife Lonnie, Dick was active in several Clintonville dance clubs and he loved to fish. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road. Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009 at St. James Episcopal Church, 3400 Calumet St., Columbus. Interment to follow Northlawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, 1625 West Mound St., Columbus, OH 43223, in his memory.
