

Richard L. Royer, age 77, of Upper Arlington, died May 27, at First Community Village. He was born on June 10, 1938 in Canton, Ohio to the late Ira Wilson and Grace (Lothamer) Royer. Dick was a graduate of Canton Lehman High School, class of 1956 and The Ohio State University College of Business, class of 1962 with a degree in Real Estate. After college, he was a lifelong resident of Upper Arlington. He started at the Real Estate Company of Kohr and Kohr in 1962 and spent his entire business career with partners Tom and Ted Kohr. In the early 1970's, the company became Kohr and Royer, and in the early 1980's, partner Mike Griffith joined and the company became known as Kohr, Royer, Griffith Inc. (KRG), which is still in business today. Dick was a MAI appraiser and realtor. He held many offices and board positions on for-profit and non-profit boards through the years. He was a past President of the Columbus Realtors, The Ohio Association of Realtors and the Columbus Rotary Club. Dick was a member of the Appraisal Institute and a past president of the local chapter. He was a long-time member of King Avenue United Methodist Church where he formerly served as head usher and a trustee. He loved classic cars and OSU sports. He always enjoyed lunching downtown at the Columbus Club where he was a member for many years. He was also a member of the Scioto Country Club. Dick loved the city of Columbus and Upper Arlington and felt truly blessed to be a part of life here in this city. He always lived by the saying "I have never met a stranger". In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his sister Rosanne Miller. He is survived by loving wife of 54 years Ann; sons John (Stacey) and David (Sara) of Upper Arlington; six grandchildren Hannah, Libby, Sari, Riley, Alexis, and Luke; and sisters Janet (Ernest) Svensson and Caroline (Harold) Ross. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 Tuesday, May 31, at the Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road where funeral service will be at 10am Wednesday. Rev. Stan Ling officiating. Interment Union Cemetery.
