He was born on January 21, 1931 in Buffalo, New York to Edison and Geraldine (Halloran) Russell. After graduating from Hasbrouck Heights High School in New Jersey, he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany after WWII. Upon returning, he graduated from the University of Toledo with a degree in marketing. He started by teaching hundreds how to drive including his future wife and years later his children and grandchildren. On February 8, 1958, he married Catherine Seethaler in Adrian, Michigan. They had six children and in 1970 moved to Worthington where he started his own business, Ohio Business Systems/Capitol Copy. He continued to remain involved with the business as it is still family owned today.
