Richard A Saunders

Richard A. Saunders, age 73, of Columbus, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He served in the United States Army. Dick was a longtime employee of Canteen and Marriott, retiring from Sedexo, having worked primarily at Chemical Abstracts Service. He loved to garden and tend flowers and rose bushes. He is preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Acton and father, Pearl Saunders, as well as his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his son, Brian D. (Megan Boyd) Saunders; “son” James Blankenship; grandchildren, Katelyn Marie Saunders; Brian D. Saunders, II, and Kenneth Dickerson; nieces and nephews, Brian (Trish) and Doug Saunders, Christopher and Terry (Tina) McGarey; and Tina (Aaron) Smith; longtime friend, Jack (Diane) Stanton and Lois Beyer and her son, Jason; other relatives and friends. Friends will be received from 1-3:00p.m. and 5-7:00 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013 at Schoedinger Linden Memorial Chapel, 2741 Cleveland Avenue, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013.
