Rita Jeanne Boyce

Rita Jeanne Boyce (Horch-Rouse), age 81, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2012. She was born in Columbus on July 25, 1930, to the late Mailen and Leona (Switzer) Horch. Rita was a 1948 graduate of South High School, and she was active in planning their high school reunions. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Boyce; and cousins, Dick and Dan Horch. Rita is survived by her daughters, Linda (Joe) Price, Diana “Dee Dee” McLoughlin (Tom Pargeon), and Patti (Gregg) Elliott; former husband and special friend, Ralph Rouse; grandchildren, Tracy (Carol) Whatley, Jaime Picklesimer (Rick Witschger), Brady (Beth) Picklesimer, Angie (Chris) Bailey, and Pat (Tina) McLoughlin; great grandchildren, Lauren, Nick, and Kaitlyn Whatley, Carly Picklesimer, and Payden McLoughlin; cousin, Jeanette Ellisor; and many special friends. Rita was a wonderful artist, focused mostly on drawing and painting with oils and watercolor. She loved sewing and trying new crafts, and she enjoyed taking art classes at the Pickerington Senior Center. In earlier years, she was a voracious world traveler and had the opportunity to explore many different countries. She especially enjoyed experiencing the art-rich culture of Paris, and she treasured family trips to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Rita was outgoing and warm, and she was a loyal friend dedicated to staying in touch through the years. She was loving and affectionate, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the chance to know her. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service; Pastor Doug Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
