Robert Mark Arkin passed away on December 12; he was 66. Bob was born in Los Angeles on August 12, 1950. After graduating from UCLA and earning a PhD in social psychology from the University of Southern California, he dedicated his life to education. He began his career teaching at the University of Missouri, where he met his wife Carol, before spending nearly three decades at The Ohio State University, first as Undergraduate Dean and then professor of psychology. He was honored to serve on the Upper Arlington school board from 2001 to 2013. He also combined his passion for education with his love of travel, including spending the summer of 2013 teaching psychology to local college students in Shanghai. Bob had an infectious sense of humor and rarely could resist making a joke. He loved reading, following the news, baseball and blues music. He collected guitars and other instruments, learning to play throughout his life to keep his musical passion alive. Most of all he loved sharing his interests with others, and cared deeply for his family, friends, colleagues and students. He was intelligent, thoughtful, funny, engaging and kind. He was loved, and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eileen Collins Arkin, his sister Elaine Huebert, brother David Arkin and nephew, Joseph Huebert. He is survived by his wife, Carol, his three sons, Josh, Jamie and Jordan, his nephew Dean Huebert (Beth), nieces, Alison Enos (Kerry) and Amy Huebert and his loving-in-laws. His family would like to thank everyone at the Morehouse Tower, The James, Zusman and Dodd Hall for their wonderful care and kindness.
