Robert I. Bender

Robert I. Bender, age 78, of Dublin, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 27, 2010 at his residence. He was born September 7, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Ivan August and Phyllis (Harding) Bender. He was raised in Bexley, where he was a graduate of Bexley High School Class of 1950. He was a retired sales representative of Green Lawn Cemetery Association, Columbus with over 10 years of service. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Sue Ann Sloan Bender in 1999. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Barbara Bender LaBossiere, Fresno, CA; son, Robert I. “Link” Bender II, Delaware, Ohio; grandchildren, Ethan Robert and Lauren Sue Bender; dear friend and close companion the past six years, Monette Grossman and many friends. Bob was a member of Goodale Lodge # 372 F & AM; Aladdin Temple Shrine and Rotary International, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. Bob was one that never met a stranger. He loved to have a good time wherever he went and whoever he was with. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, where Masonic Service will be held 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Chapel Service 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2010 at Green Lawn Cemetery, 1000 Greenlawn Avenue. Those who wish may contribute to a favorite charity of choice, in his memory.
