
Robert A. Flick of Columbus, Ohio, died peacefully on October 13, 2022, at age 89. He was born on January 28, 1933, to Frank and Eleanor (Boning) Flick in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters and brothers-in-law Martha and John Mueller, Rosemary and Al Stentz and Norman Kuecha. He is survived by his sister Irma Kuecha, Florida. He is also survived by Elizabeth, his wife of 64 years, daughter Julee (Walt) O’Reilly, son Andrew (Gena) Flick, granddaughter Jennica O’Reilly, grandsons Carter and Brady Flick, great granddaughter Laiken Waldrop, and numerous nieces and nephews. He served in the United States Navy from 1955-58, stationed in London, England, for two years. He then returned to the University of Cincinnati, graduating in 1963. He was a systems analyst for Chemical Abstracts Service for 20 years and then The Limited for 13 years, from where he retired. Following retirement, Bob and Liz enjoyed travelling both overseas and within the United States. He was always supportive of his children’s activities, and he and Liz were involved with veterans’ organizations. He loved photography and produced films and DVDs of his travels and wildlife. He loved music, especially playing the piano but also played trumpet, guitar and drums. He really enjoyed time spent at home in his park-like backyard and loved seeing all the creatures which came to visit. He was a big Buckeye fan.
He will be remembered as a very loving, kind, gentle soul with a ready smile and stunning blue eyes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Peace Church, 20 E. Dominion Blvd., Columbus, OH 43214, on Thursday, October 27th, at 11:00 am. All are invited to meet with the family in the Gathering Space at the front of the church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National League of POW/MIA Families, the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
