

Robert (Bobby) Lee Kerr, age 97, of Columbus passed away of natural causes on February 9th, 2021. Robert was born in Columbus Ohio to Rudolph and Kathleen Kerr on July 3rd, 1923. He went to school at the Ohio State School for the Deaf on Town St where he learned about printing and bookbinding. In 1950, he married Mary Woods and they had two children together. Robert worked as a typesetter and paste-up artist for the Columbus Dispatch newspaper, where he retired after 45 years. Robert was active with the Columbus Association of the Deaf, where he was a "Hall of Fame" member for 75 years and served as president from 1974 to 1978. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed golf, photography and playing cards. Robert is preceded in death by his wife Mary and son Robert Jr, as well as his brothers James and Tommy.He is survived by his son William and his wife Rebecca, and their children Alexandra, Max and Clark; his daughter-in-law Christine and her son Jonathan; and two great-grandchildren Myra and Wrenly. He also leaves behind his nephew and niece Rudolph and Meme Kerr. The family extends its sincere appreciation to the staff of Columbus Colony Elderly Care who took great care of him in his last few years. We will always be thankful to his caregiver Linda Borders who watched out for him and took him shopping and to appointments. We will also remember his many neighbors, family and friends who were so willing to help when he needed it. Visitation will be on Thursday February 18th at 10 am at the Heart and Hope Funeral Home by Schoedinger, 3030 W. Broad St. A service will be held at 11 am, officiated by Mark Dettmer, followed by procession to St. Joseph Cemetery.
