Robert Curtis Mulligan

Robert Curtis Mulligan, 94, passed away on September 17, 2013 in Columbus, Ohio. He is remembered dearly as a loving and devoted brother, husband, father and friend. His kindness, compassion, generous spirit and good humor favored all who knew him.

Born to George and Ola Mulligan in Coshocton, Ohio, Mr. Mulligan attended Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh. An early inductee into World War II, he served in United States Army field hospitals overseas, completing his tour of duty as a 1st Sergeant after “four years, six months and eighteen days,” as he would often remind his family. In 1943, during a visit home from duty, he married his hometown sweetheart, Margaret Jane Brink.

Mr. Mulligan’s career included sales and marketing for several companies, settling into the ceramics industry. He retired from Diamondite Products in Shreve, Ohio in 1984.

The Mulligan family moved to Wooster, Ohio, in 1959, where he and his wife became active, long-time members of the United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed community service with the Wooster Kiwanis through his later years.

In 2011, ten years after the death of his beloved Margaret, Mr. Mulligan moved from Wooster to the Columbus area to live with his daughter Molly and her family.

Mr. Mulligan is survived by his brother Edwin Mulligan; his three daughters and sons-in-law; Marcia and Richard Enslen, Elaine and Peter Logan, and Molly and William Fanning; his seven adoring grandchildren; Robert, Benjamin and Molly Logan and Sara, Amy, Laura and Billy Fanning; and his niece Marion and her husband Timothy Sutton.

At his wish, there will be no calling hours or funeral. A family interment at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery and memorial service will be held at a later date.
