

Robert (Bob) William Rector, W8RWR, a Silent Key. He was a gentle soul only wanting to share his life’s experiences with anyone interested in listening. He was baptized at Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he attended Sunday School, Bible School, Youth Fellowship, and choir. He graduated in special education at West High School where he helped on the sideline at football games. After working in the security services, he began working at Toyota West fifteen years ago. Ham Radio was his epic hobby. He belonged to ham radio clubs and volunteered radio services to community events which used radio services, Fourth of July fireworks, OSU football games, Arnold Schwarzenegger events, as well as numerous charity races. Bob went with Ohio Ham Radio operators to New York for the 9/11 attack. He also traveled and volunteered for radio service to one of the natural disasters in Florida. The yearly “Hamfest” in Dayton Ohio was an annual vacation. He adored each of the family pets. He was preceded in death by his father, William F. Rector. He is survived by his mother, Joyce (Moore) Rector, his sister Tami Lin (Andy) Beeler, his brother Lowell (Rebecca) Rector. He had four nieces and nephews, Natalie (John) Anthony, John Beeler, Mickey (Kimberly) Rector, Matthew (Jessica) Rector and six great nieces and nephews, Serenity Anthony, Gideon Anthony, Alexa Rector, Andrew Rector, William Rector, Benjamin Rector, Aunt Carolyn Karn and many other aunts, uncles. Family and friends are requested to gather on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 12-12:30 pm to form a procession at Advantage Funeral Home by Schoedinger Hilltop, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204 prior to the graveside service in Sunset Cemetery at 1:00 pm to honor Bob.
