Robert W. Schaaf

Mr. Robert Schaaf went to be with the Lord on July 13, 2013. He was born June 20, 1930, son of Prof. Lawrence and Elizabeth Schaaf. He grew up in Bexley, OH. Mr. Schaaf graduated with a BS in physics from Capital University in 1952 and received his MS from Ohio State in 1953. He worked as a Systems Analyst at Bendix Aerospace in Indiana and then as a mass transit system specialist at Bendix in Michigan and Battelle here in Columbus. He then retired as a computer systems engineer from the Ohio Department of Transportation in 1991.

He was devoted to his family and is survived by his wife, Joanne Anderson Schaaf, 2 daughters, Kathryn Schaaf and Ellen Schaaf Aberegg, son-in-law Dale Aberegg, 2 grandsons Stephen and Andrew Aberegg, sister Carol Schaaf Winnette of Louisiana, sister-in-law Alice (Urton) Anderson of North Carolina, and nephews Urton and Jon Anderson. Bob made his family and their needs his lifelong priority. Bob/Dad/Grandpa will be dearly missed.

Visiting hours will be at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Upper Arlington from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2013. A memorial service will follow at 6p.m.

This hospice/angel staff was essential in making his last days at home comfortable and their kindness is so deeply appreciated by the family.
