Tina and I met Bobb at the end of our sophomore year in college. We are so thankful to have been able to call him a friend all these years. I know you understand when I say it wasn't long enough. Our memories mean that we will never be without him, but we'd give anything for one more chance to tease him and to hear his laughter. 
Tina referred to Bobb as "my annoying, sweet, older brother" and that is an apt description. He was generous beyond belief and found joy in the simple things. Over the years of Christmases and birthdays, we discovered that he was more thrilled to get a good book, or lobster t-shirt, than things that were more expensive, but to Bobb, meaningless. What really made Bobb happy was to do nice things for others, and Tina and I were the recipients of his generosity more often than we deserved.
When Tina and I moved to Southern California after college, Bobb was the first person to come visit us. When we moved back to Athens, Bobb was the first person we saw. I drove the moving truck when he moved back to Athens and he was our housemate for nearly a year. Bobb and I had lunch together nearly every day when he worked at Follett and he was over at our house so often for dinner that he had "his" plate. We were together nearly every holiday, birthday, super bowl, movie opening, as well as more tragic times. To say we'll miss him is an understatement.
Bobb would have given me crap for saying this, but we loved him. I hope he knew that. His loss will make Tina and I hold even more tightly to those we love. I hope you do the same.

I have prepared Bobb's tax returns for the last 30 plus years.  Receiving Bobb's tax information was a sign that the tax season was coming to a close, because he consistently sent us his tax information between the 10th and 14th of April.  The necessary chore of filing his annual tax return wasn't something he liked to do, but he was consistent with the timing of his annual preparation.

Dear Bobb,
On June 27th, 2013 I was given a second chance at life. On December 27th, 2017 you were not. I can't begin to understand how these chances are given, but if it's based on a life lived through giving, generosity, caring, understanding, and love then it helps me understand a little better - We should all strive to be as generous as you were. 

You rescued us after my heart attack. You didn't just let us move in with you... You told us, in no uncertain terms, that we were to stay with you until I was ready to get back to living.  There was nowhere else we would have rather been.  

During Irma, you called me and said we better get our butts up to your house "or else." So we did. It was the right thing to do, and we had a great visit even while worrying that our house might not be there when we got home.

You are the only other human besides Chris and I who would welcome Harry into your home. He's mean, angry, and prone to attack - You didn't care. You treated him with the same love and generosity you showed us throughout our friendship. That can't have been easy with him hissing his way around your house like he owned the place.

Since January 2005, you've been a constant fixture in our lives. If we weren't hanging out nearly every single day while we lived in Athens, we were calling and texting about every little thing - Or back in the day, playing World of Warcraft together.  

You were, without a doubt, the kindest and dearest friend Chris and I could have ever hoped to have. I'm not sure what we did to earn your friendship, but we are so very fortunate to have had you in our lives.

I'm not sure how one moves on from the loss of that person who was available 100% of the time for any little thing.  

One time, you bought me a new tire for my car back when Chris and I were living on minimum wage because you overheard me say in passing that we would have to skip groceries for a few weeks. At the time, that $150 was a fortune to us. You didn't even blink, nor did you ask if we needed help. You just did it. Made it happen.  

Every June when you EARNED your bonus at work, you didn't keep it. You split 99% (or all) of it among the people working under you who you felt had made the biggest impact and helped you the most. Even when they refused the gift, you didn't take no for an answer. If you had to pay these resistant folks in food from The Pub or random gifts of pizza during the work day, you did. 

On the worst birthday I can remember, when I turned 31 in 2013, you turned it into the best - You bought me something online... Something until that time you'd never done. You tracked down that beautiful, special skeleton key necklace with the octopus on it and bought it for me from the Charleston, SC Margaritaville. Because you saw me post about it months before on Facebook and you remembered how much I wished I could afford it.  You were too good to us, and I know we tried all the time to be as good to you. 

There will never be another Bobb Scott in this world. You were, quite literally, one of a kind. You were the very best type of friend, and the very best type of person. I'm glad we had a chance to chat on Christmas, but it will never make up for all the future moments we will share without you. I am still not sure how I'll ever be able to believe this happened, but I am absolutely forever thankful for the past 13 years.
