Dear Julie , Jack and Olivia,
 It was shocking to hear Vaughan had lost his brave fight and we want you to know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time. A Mass has been offered here in Bolton for you all.
Vaughan was always larger than life, so much so that our children ,who only met him the once many, many years ago, still remember him. Vaughan, like  Auntie Edna and Uncle Harry, will never be forgotten by us.  With our love and deepest sypathy.

Dear Julie, Jack, and Olivia ~ I can't tell you how sad we all were here at the office today when we heard of Vaughn's passing.  While you moved from our neighborhood some time ago, we all enjoyed our conversations over the years.  We are so very sorry for your loss. We only recently met Vaughn, they are our FAVORITE neighbors (and friends).  I remember the day we met Vaughn, I was sitting in my house on a day like any other when the doorbell rang and was greeted at  the door by a rather large man, who said "hello, I am your neighbor, Robert, (he handed me a quarter) this quarter was between our houses, in Scotland, this means we will be good friends, may I borrow you ladder?"  That was our new friend Vaughn.

A week or two later, my husband noticed a paint can on the roof of the house; the next time Julie and Vaughn were down, Scott asked Julie "did you know there is a paint can on your roof?" Julie said in surprise "it must have been when Vaughn fell off the roof" and Scott looked at her questioning what he'd just heard - "what are you talking about, he fell off the roof?" Julie said "last time we were down, Vaughn went up to paint and fell off, he is fine, he is just too old to be up on the roof" - we still chuckle at this :-)

That was our introduction to Vaughn and in the short time we have known him, they have quickly become our best neighbors and great friends....we were lucky enough to spend one brilliant night with Julie and Vaughn discussing Quantum Physics and trying new beers....with hopes of many more....and now we have to say goodbye to a friend...this wasn't how it was supposed to be, we wanted to spend more time with you both...we are deeply saddened that we did not get to know you better! Vaughn, you will be missed by us all....
