Robert L. Severance

Robert Lee Severance, age 69 of Reynoldsburg, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012. Bob was born and raised in Columbus, son of the late Clarence and Juanita Severance. Also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Severance and brother, Don Severance. Bob retired from the Columbus Dispatch after 42 years as a district manager and while there he was the Newspaper Guild Union President for 15 years. Bob was a very wise and intelligent man who was a great leader and always put others needs before his own. He loved to travel, play cards, could build anything with his hands, and especially enjoyed playing golf. He was the GCO Golf League Secretary/Treasurer for many years and also consistently supported the Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association. Above all else however, Bob truly loved spending time with his family and friends and they are all very grateful for the time they shared with him. He will be greatly and dearly missed by his children, James (Christy) Severance and Jacqulyn (Mark Tennant) Severance; grandchildren, Christa, Zachary, Erin, Ze’qari, Erika, Caitlyn, Natasha, Haley, Alex, Alexis, Marc, and Ashley; great grandchildren, RJ and Tye; sisters, Dorothy (Wilbur) Wiggington and Marilyn (Jim Love) Davis; brother, Rick (Debbie Thompson) Severance; best friends, Chuck McGinn and Matt Findlay; and many other family, extended family, and dear friends. Memorial service will be held a 6 P.M. Thursday, May 31, 2012 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., where family will receive friends from 4 P.M. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fifth Third Bank, c/o Robert Severance Acct # 7283351448 to benefit his grandchildren’s college fund.
