

Roger J. Korwin, age 69 of Granville, Ohio, formerly of Cassadaga, New York, passed away on January 12, 2012 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Dunkirk, NY on July 29, 1942 to the late Joseph and Rita (Michalak) Korwin.
Roger proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a machinist by trade, prior to his retirement, in the family owned and operated Korwin Machine Corporation in Cassadaga, NY. He was Catholic by faith; was a former member of the Stockton Police Department; Chautauqua County Special Deputy Sheriff; and Cassadaga Fire Department. Most important in his life was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was very proud of his children and Papa’s grandchildren were the apple of his eye.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Kathleen (Wilcox) Korwin of Granville, Ohio, whom he married September 14, 1963; children, Teresa (Dr. Colin) O’Brien of Amherst, NH, Douglas (Rebecca) Korwin of Copley, OH, Paul (Joelle) Korwin of Pataskala, OH and Michelle (Daniel Edson) Korwin-Edson also of Granville; grandchildren, Kevin, Nathan, Alexis, Kayla and Ellerie; and sister, Elaine (William) Mead of Palm Coast, FL.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Roger to the Salvation Army, 704 Central Ave., Dunkirk, NY 14048-2505.
Private family services were held for the immediate family.
