

Roger Ruckman Stahley, 92, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio passed away on April 29, 2022, with his loving wife, Betty by his side. Roger was born September 29, 1929 in Jamestown, NY to Jacob E and Inez M. Stahley. He graduated from Falconer High School (NY), and continued his education at Franklin University, School of Drafting. Roger was an outstanding athlete, recipient of many athletic awards, and loved basketball, where he was known as the Falcon’s 6’4” scoring machine. Roger began his career with Ditto/Bell & Howell, and later retired from the Anheuser-Busch Company in Columbus, OH. Roger spent much of his life serving his community, church, and volunteering. He was elected to the Whitehall City Council for over 20 years where he presided as Chairman of the Finance Committee, Council Chair to Parks and Recreation Commission, Safety, Service, and Development Review Committees, as well as serving on the Firemen's Relief Pension Fund Board. He was appointed to the Parks Commission and was an active member of the Whitehall and Ohio Republican Clubs. Roger volunteered at Mount Carmel East Hospital for 16 years, was a member of the Maennerchor Club, the Whitehall Citizen’s Club and the Reynoldsburg Senior Center. He was a Charter Member of Eastview UMC, and Official Board and Delegate to the Methodist Union. Roger was presented "The 1965 Outstanding Young Man of The Year Award" for Distinguished Service by the East Columbus Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was a Charter Member of the East Columbus Jaycees and became a Past Director thereafter. Above all else, Roger was a loving, devoted family man. He met and married Betty Anderson on April 9, 1955 at Zion Covenant Church, Jamestown, NY. Together, they raised three sons, who Roger enjoyed coaching and supporting throughout their athletic careers. He coached at the Southside Branch YMCA, Eastview Church basketball program, Whitehall City youth basketball and baseball teams, and was President of the WYHS Booster Club. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and eldest son, Stephen R. Stahley (2011); brother, Robert E. (Mary) Stahley; and brother-in-law and sister-in-laws, Robert J (Elsie) Anderson, and Margaret (John) Smith. He is survived by his wife, Betty (Anderson) Stahley; sons, Scott R. (Michelle) Stahley, Gary A. (Jennifer) Stahley, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Stahley; grandchildren, Desiree (Aaron) Dan, Austin (Meara) Stahley, Nathan Stahley, Brooke Stahley and Lee R. Stahley; great grandchildren, Hunter Dan and Declan Stahley. Funeral Service will be held 12 Noon Saturday, May 7th, 2022 at Schoedinger East Funeral Home, 5360 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43232, where Visiting Hours will be held 4-7 pm Friday, May 6th, 2022.
