

Ronald Ishmael Gillum, 84, passed away July 18, 2021. He was born May 8, 1937 in the hollers of Elliot County, KY to the late Garnett (Sparks) and Preston Gillum. Ron is an Anheuser-Busch retiree, a member of Sunbury United Methodist Church where he sang in the Praise group for several years, and an avid golfer. He was the lead singer and guitar player in the Country Playboys Band. Ron is survived by his loving wife Diana (Jones); daughters Annette Gillum, Michele (Tim) Wilson, Lisa (Jeff) Chenes; grandchildren Eddie and Erik McCathria, Josh (Lucy) and Baylee Wilson, John Wilson (deceased); great-grandchildren Brantley, Erik Jr., Lilly and Isabella; brothers and sisters, Donnie (Jane), Lional (Jillanna), Terry (Robin), Sherry (Gene) Jeffers; Billy Jo Crites (deceased); sister-in-law Kim (Rob) Maneely and brother-in-law Tom (Ximena) Jones; extended family and friends. Ron's life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 31st, which would have been he and Diana's 40th wedding anniversary. Gathering 2-3pm with a service at 3pm followed by refreshments and visiting until 5pm, all at Schoedinger Northeast in Gahanna, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Ron's memory.
