Roy William Oldaker

Roy William Oldaker, age 89, died peacefully surrounded by his family at Mt. Carmel East Hospital on Friday, September 30, 2016. Son of late Charles and Hildred Oldaker, Roy was born on January 26, 1927 in Lesage, WV. He retired from DCSC in 1982 after 35 years of service as a Wood Worker and continued to use his wood working skills as a hobby, building things in his retired years. Roy was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Roberta, children Sandi (Rick) Simonski of Lapeer, MI, Steve (Jane) Oldaker of Pickerington, OH, David (Bonnie) Oldaker of Pawleys Island, SC, Keith (Denise) Oldaker of Apopka, FL, Edie Salyer of Fort Wayne, IN, devoted granddaughter Amber (Ryan) Flack of Columbus, OH and special family friends Mike and Judy Newton and Jennifer Dunneback. Roy had 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also survived by two sisters Juanita Holbrook of Huntington, WV and Rosa Nicholas of Chesapeake, OH. Preceded in death by sister Bertha Vickers, brothers Corbet, Ira and Andrew Jackson Oldaker of Lesage, WV. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice at 1144 Dublin Rd., Columbus, OH. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Dave Lewis, will be held at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232 on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 11:00 am. Eulogy will be given by Amber Flack. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens 5600 E. Broad St. Columbus, OH 43213 where military honors will be performed. Visitation hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Schoedinger East Chapel. A special thanks to Mt.
