I met Ms Bell, August 1991.  My mother n law, Essie Hambrick was Ruthie and her mother’s neighbor for many many years before that. 

When my mother n law passed away, her son Gary A Maynard Sr and I moved into the family homestead.  Ms. Bell is my favorite neighbor of all time.  We developed a great friendship between the 34 years living next to one another.  She always felt like family to me, never just a neighbor.  When Gary and I took over custody of his oldest daughters, Charlottes sons Ms. Bell got super creative.  Kevin Joe and Jorge were so little and they were nosey as could be.  They were all of time down at Ruthie’s.  She had them take trash out for her.  They made their own money.  They really loved Ms Bell.  During  Christmas time Ruthie had the boys come down to her secret Santa event.  The boys would get so excited to go to this every year.  They would wrap their little presents for their grandpa and sit them under the tree.  
I have about 1000 different stories.  I’m saddened she isn’t next door.  I would call her out of the blue and we would talk for hours.

This neighborhood will never be the same again.  Ruth Bell was the pillar of this community.  Everyone loves her.  I can only imagine what Gary and Ms Bell are gossiping about now.
