My mom passed away today. She was born Ruth Ann Lloyd on September, 20, 1932 and married my Dad, Rancy Fox, in 1956. She had three daughters; Debbie, Karen, and me, Carol. In 1983, she got a son-in-law, James Haley, who loved her too. Those of you that knew her know that Ruth was one of a kind. You may have known her as Ruthie, Aunt Ruth, Mrs. Fox, or Foxy; as a waitress at Green Gables, or a Camp Fire Girls leader, or may be as a crazy witch-doctor at Camp Otonwe, or a Band Parent at Franklin Heights High School, or a cafeteria lady in the Southwestern City Schools. Some of you may have known her as a girl growing up in Columbus. I've seen pictures of her in her younger days, a pretty thing with a mischievous twinkle in her eye. Dementia only slightly dulled her shine the past few years. Dad, Jim and I are going to miss both her laughter and her cantankerous attitude. Mom didn't like viewings or funerals, and neither do Dad and I, so none are planned. And she wasn't fond of flowers, so please don't send any. She didn't have a favorite charity. I know that she would rather that you do something fun with your children, grandchildren or friends. Get a hot fudge sundae, go roller-skating, or watch an old John Wayne movie or Broadway musical. Honor her life with laughter, and remember to be outrageous every now and then. SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL is assisting the family with arrangements.
