Ruth C. Phelps

A funeral service for Ruth C. Phelps, 72 of Newark, will be held on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Oakthorpe Church, 6090 Oakthorpe Rd., Thornville, with Pastor Brad Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Ruth was born in Syracuse, Ohio on July 4, 1939 to the late Raymond Cedric and Doris (Branch) Hayes. She passed away at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster on March 24, 2012.

Ruth was a member of the Southgate Church of Christ in Newark and also attended Oakthorpe Church. She was also a member of the Buckeye Lake Eagles Lodge Ladies Auxiliary; Newark Druids Ladies Auxiliary; and Country Music Fellowship Organization. She enjoyed watching TV, fishing and listening to Christian, Country Western and Bluegrass music.

Survivors include her children, Gerald Wayne Beach and Brenda Lee Reese; eight grandchildren; brother, Donald Napper; sisters, Sharon Hayes and Delcia (Donald) Henderson; good friend, Harry; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ruth to Oakthorpe Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Edmond Phelps in 2000; and daughter, Teresa K. Bing.
