Born in Columbus, OH to the late Raymond and Vivian (Chesser) Dersoon, Ruth exemplified the values of hard work, resilience, and integrity throughout her life. She was proud to serve as a store manager for Kroger Co. for many years, before retiring in the late 1990's.
Ruth's work ethic was matched only by the love she had for her family and friends. She was a guiding force, a quiet pillar, and a steady hand who taught us through example the importance of perseverance, honesty, and kindness. Ruth never backed down from a challenge and never cut corners.
Following her retirement, Ruth spent many years in Mesa, AZ where she found joy in life's simple pleasures- lunches with friends who became family, card games filled with laughter, and adventures near and far through her love of travel. These were more than past times, they were expressions of the rich, full life she created for herself and with those around her.
Ruth is predeceased by her parents, her sister Ramona "Jacquie" Dillon, daughter Vicki Stroud, and grandchildren Kara and Brittany Prendergast. She is survived by her loving daughter Debra Prendergast (David Salzgaber); grandchildren Michelle (Bradley) Hull, Andrew Stroud (Michelle Howiler), Stephen (Randa) Prendergast, Ryan Prendergast (Hannah Mulligan) ; great-grandchildren Alexis, Brynn, Sawyer, Preston, Scully, and Madison; niece Ramona Dillon.
We will honor Ruth's memory with a Celebration of Life from 4-6pm on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST 1740 Zollinger Rd., Upper Arlington, OH 43221and invite all who were touched by her life to join us in celebrating her remarkable journey.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Association in Ruth's memory.
Though she is no longer with us, her spirit remains—a guiding light, a source of strength, and a reminder of what it means to live with heart and conviction.
