Sara Elizabeth Barbary

Sara Elizabeth Barbary, 84, of Columbus, went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2016. She was born on August 15, 1931 in Albany Georgia to the late Willie and Ella Mae (Jones) Reese, Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Ella Lorraine Reece; and her brothers Ulysses and Willie Reese, Jr. Sara was a classy, sweet angel with a good heart who was active in the church choir, the Protestant Women of the Church, served as the youth and adult choir director in Ft. Campbell, was the team soccer mom in Ft. Knox, and volunteered for the Red Cross. She was a sophisticated, strong mother of character who will be deeply missed by her husband of 58 years Homer W. Barbary, Sr.; her children Julia Diane Conyers, Carol G. Barbary, Cynthia E. Ward, Homer W. Barbary, Jr., Marisa J. Miller, Michael W. Barbary, Mark Q. Barbary, Joyce L. Ortiz, Sara B. Barbary, and Juana E. Barbary; 18 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Sara was a dedicated member of the Maple Grove United Methodist Church, 7 Henderson Road, Columbus, where her funeral service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 with Reverend Glenn Schwerdtfeger officiating. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 3-7pm at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High Street. Entombment will be at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org , or the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
