May 14, 1933 -June 24, 2026
Sharon Ruth Wallace, age 93, peacefully entered her eternal home on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Wesley Ridge Retirement Community in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
Born on May 14, 1933, in Albany, Ohio, Sharon was the only child of the late Clarence and Grace Vorhes. A proud southeastern Ohio native, she graduated from Albany High School with the Class of 1951. After briefly attending Ohio University, she moved to Columbus at the age of 18 to begin her career with the Ohio Farm Bureau, carrying with her a strong work ethic and a quiet determination that would define her life.
On September 6, 1953, Sharon married the love of her life, James Richard "Jimmy Dick" Wallace. Together they shared a devoted partnership built on love, faith, and unwavering support. Whether at home or working side by side at Parker Advertising, they were true companions who always stood in each other's corner.
Together they raised three sons-James Phillip (Phil), Kelly Vorhes, and Brian Richard-instilling in them the values of hard work, creativity, faith in Jesus Christ, and the importance of family.
After dedicating herself to raising her family and teaching private piano lessons from her home, Sharon returned to the workforce at Bank One before finding her calling as Development Director for Easter Seals of Central Ohio. She was especially proud of the role she played in the success of the Jimmy Crum Easter Seals Telethon, helping raise vital support for countless families throughout Central Ohio.
Family was Sharon's greatest joy. As an only child, she always dreamed of having a large family, and that dream became one of her life's greatest blessings. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and she delighted in celebrating their lives, encouraging their dreams, and surrounding them with unconditional love.
Sharon found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved playing bingo, cards, and Rummikub, sitting at the piano, singing in church choirs, and preparing meals for the many friends and family who were welcomed into her home. Her door was always open, her table always had room for one more, and her gentle spirit, kindness, and servant's heart touched everyone who knew her.
She is lovingly survived by her three sons, Phil (Jeri) Wallace, Kelly (Tammy) Wallace, and Brian Wallace; her nine cherished grandchildren, Lindsay (Eric) Winner, Julianne (Erik) Balster, Laura (Nathan) Harrington, Emily (Dan) Howarth, Nate (Kristen) Wallace, Maite Wallace, Leah Wallace, Diego Wallace, and Nick Wallace; and her thirteen beloved great-grandchildren: McKenna, Wyatt, Annabelle, Hendrix, Brynlee, Ava, Kaitlyn, Marielle, Lyla, Sadie, Kyus, Theo, and Scarlett.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, nursing assistants, and staff of Wesley Ridge Retirement Community for the compassionate care they provided throughout Sharon's sixteen years as a resident. Your kindness, patience, and dedication-and the loving attention you gave to her daily routines-meant more than words can express.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sharon's life during visitation on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., followed immediately by a Memorial Service in Kimes Chapel at Wesley Ridge, 2225 Taylor Park Drive, Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068.
Sharon will be remembered for her quiet strength, unwavering faith, generous heart, and steadfast love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the love she so freely gave.
