Ms. Clinton-Reed was born on 11th May, 1934 in Long Beach, California to Ralph Clinton and Lily Mae Brownfield. A graduate of Grant Union High School in Sacramento California, Sheila loved reading and writing with a desire to attend San Jose State University, but she chose to start a family after meeting a young sailor on leave during WWII named Pedro Yepez. Sheila raised 2 girls and 2 boys as a proud military spouse. She worked for the County of Sacramento after divorcing Pedro, later retiring as a Supervisor for the Welfare Department. Sheila met Ralph Reed while working for the county. Sheila and Ralph, a survivor of 3 wars spanning his Air Force career, were married until his death in the fall of 1988.
Sheila loved to travel, her family, and a good political debate. She was a strong advocate for women’s rights, had a heart of gold, and an engaging smile. One of her proudest accomplishments was achieving 38 years of sobriety.
She is survived by daughters Michelle Spence and Jackie Yepez; sons Marc Yepez and Scott Reed; stepchildren Vicki (Reed) Johnson, Roy “Butch” Reed, and Paul Reed. Sheila also leaves behind numerous grandchildren living in Ohio, Montana, Connecticut and California.
A celebration of life will be on July 6th 2020 at East Lawn on Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights, California.
